"To grow grapes and produce wines in the mountains, you have to be a lot more dedicated. Most of us do it because we love it."
— Ken Burnap, Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard, 1979

Industrial Nonsense
Human-powered wines made with only grapes.
More mountains to climb. More is more. Just enjoy it.
Pure, alive, and inconvenient.
Mountain wine is the purist expression of terroir. Weathered-in-place soils create individualistic wines that are unlike anything else. The vineyards we work with are alive with the natural flora and fauna that surround them, cultivated by nature - not by machine. The hillsides are steep, the weather can be harsh, the hand-work is daunting. It's highly inconvenient and not optimized for everyone. As Ken Burnap said, we do it because we love it.
Mountain wines are more concentrated, more aromatic, more food-friendly. The tannins have texture rather than just grip. The acidity is fresh and real, not added. These are the qualities that only emerge from place, season, and honest winemaking.
